Community Safety and Well-being (CSWB) Plans are roadmaps for making life safer, healthier and more supportive for everyone. They are a shared plan that brings local organizations, service providers, and residents together to prevent problems before they happen and to make sure people get the right help at the right time. It looks at the big picture - things like homelessness, mental health, education, and community belonging - because these are the real factors that shape safety and well-being.
A CSWB Plan:
Identifies local challenges
Brings partners together - police, health care, social services, schools, nonprofits, residents
Sets shared goals for improving safety and well-being
Creates coordinated actions so organizations aren't working in silos
Tracks progress so the community can see what's improving and what needs more attention
Meets legislated requirements under Ontario's Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019.
The second iteration of Prince Edward County's CSWB Plan is nearing its end, and work is underway to develop the 2027-2030 plan. Resident voices play a crucial role in this work to ensure that the priority areas reflect what you feel are the most important issues facing our community today, and how to prevent further issues in the future.
