With heavy hearts, the County of Prince Edward marks the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. We extend our condolences to His Majesty King Charles III on the passing of his mother, and to the Royal Family.
Queen Elizabeth II was born on April 21, 1926, and crowned Queen of Canada and 16 other countries on June 2, 1953. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is the longest-reigning British monarch, and longest-serving woman head of state in world history. Her reign saw the Queen as the head of 54 Commonwealth countries. The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrating 70 years of her reign was to be marked in 2022.
Among her many accomplishments, Her Majesty dedicated her life to public service, and was patron of more than 600 charities and organizations, of which 36 are in Canada.
The Queen (then Princess Elizabeth) and the Duke of Edinburgh first toured Canada in the fall of 1951. Since her accession to the Throne, Her Majesty has completed more royal tours in Canada than to any other Commonwealth country. The Queen's 2010 tour marked her 22nd official tour, and final tour of Canada as our Queen.
The County has lowered flags to half-mast throughout the community to commemorate the Queen's death. Flags will remain at half-mast position until after the funeral.

Queen Elizabeth 11 was the most dedicated, gracious and committed monarch who ruled with dignity and fairness for 70 yrs. She was a loving mum, grandmum and great grandmum to walk this world. She will be sorely missed by soo many people whom she met in official situations private gatherings and by her loving family. I know she is now with the love of her life Prince Philip and will be looking down on us from above. Forever watching over all of us. RIP you have done more than anyone else but now try and rest.

I am saddened more than I anticipated by the Queen's death. At 96 years of age, it was expected and yet still came as a shock and great loss. She represented the best of us. May she rest in a well deserved peace.
