Project Overview
The County of Prince Edward is seeking ideas for the use of two pedestrian-only laneways north of Picton Main Street as well as urban green space in 2024.
Parkland reserve funds totalling $50,000 will be used to enhance up to two publicly-owned, pedestrian-only laneways north of Picton Main Street, as well as provide infrastructure to an urban green space that currently contains no amenities.
The eligible laneways are:
247 and 251 Picton Main Street (The Royal Hotel and Harvey Kalles Real Estate)
281 and 289 Picton Main Street (Ye11ow Studio and Books & Company)
Map of Eligible Laneways

Laneway Information: This project site is restricted to the laneway surface only. The walls are private property and will not be part of the project. Parkland funding can be used for infrastructure only. It cannot be used for events or activities. County Arts is currently developing a public art policy on behalf of the municipality. Public art projects will not be considered until that work is completed, which is expected in late 2024 and does not align with the province’s spending deadline for Parkland Reserve Funds.
Downes Avenue Green Space Information: This green space currently has no amenities. The neighbourhood is home to seniors, working professionals and families with children ranging from babies to teenagers. Parking is limited to on-street parking on Downes Ave.
Public Engagement
The municipality is looking for ideas of how to improve the two laneways and the green space. Please complete our Laneways Quick Poll. We encourage you to also share your ideas for the 35 Downes Ave green space on the ideas board!
