In September 2020, County Council enacted Interim Control By-law No. 177-2020 to freeze development within the Wellington Urban Centre from expanding into un-serviced areas for a period of one year.

The purpose of the Interim Control By-law is to provide an opportunity to review current land use policies within the Wellington Urban Centre Secondary Plan with consideration for the new municipal servicing proposal. As the Wellington Master Servicing Plan looks beyond the Secondary Plan planning horizon to a full build-out solution for the Village of Wellington, the Secondary Plan is currently being reviewed to ensure existing policies, land uses, and mapping align and all municipal documents complement each other.

A public consultation session was held on Wednesday, May 12, 2021. The session provided an opportunity for residents to hear about the current review taking place and to offer feedback on desired land uses within the Village of Wellington. Planning staff presented an overview of where we are in the process and facilitated small group discussions to solicit resident preferences for development moving forward.

The presentation slides are available on the right-side pane under 'Documents'. A summary of main themes and comments received from the session are also available under 'Documents'.

Please note: The County is still receiving comments and reviewing potential updates to the Secondary Plan. Should you have any comments, please submit through this consultation page, or email Michael Michaud, Manager of Planning, at mmichaud@pecounty.on.ca.
