Key Dates

The proposed 2026 budget is posted for review by Council and the public.

Council will receive the treasurer's budget summary, public deputations or comments, and the staffing budget.

The first budget working session will see Council and staff focus on capital investment, strategic planning, and asset management

The second budget working session will see Council and staff focus on operating budget presentations by department.

The final budget presentation by the Mayor. At this meeting, Council will have a chance to make final adjustments, pass supporting resolutions, and vote on the by-law adopting the 2026 budget. 

Note: In accordance with Strong Mayor Powers, Council may express support for the budget by resolution that will normally include a resolution shortening the time in which Council can make amendments to the budget, or pass resolutions amending the budget. The Mayor may veto any amendments passed by a resolution of Council. Council may override a Mayoral veto with a two-thirds vote.
