Penny Morrisalmost 3 years agoIt is critical in planning for Canada Day 2022 that there be a large Indigenous component. I also do NOT want fireworks.
The Indigenous component should come form our local Indigenous people and I would like there to be both a cultural and historical education of Canada's history from the Indigenous perspective. Fireworks are damaging to the environment, to animals and in my opinion are a waste of money.

Please, no fireworks!
0 comment0Andrew Janikowskialmost 3 years agoCanada Day needs to be a celebration of all our cultures and hopefully a demonstration of our efforts to reconcile our differences.
I do love a good firework display however. It always seems to be such a wonderful way to finish up a special day.
0 comment1Richard Linnettover 2 years agoCanada day should celebrate what is good. Acknowledgement of wrongs matters but we should learn and not run down the country.
0 comment1David McQueenover 2 years agoA musical and cultural festival that celebrated the positive aspects of our cultural diversity would encourage community.
A single or multi-day festival that brings together music, food and positive aspects of our diverse cultural and historical history could include not only the significant Loyalist, Indigenous and French Canadian contributions to our local history but could include the wider range of our Canadian cultural diversity. While this is a significant undertaking it could attract visitors and participants from other regions as well as having the potential to attract sponsorship and perhaps become an annual celebration of our shared community.
