About the Childcare Task Team

Prince Edward County Council recently approved the formation of a new Childcare Task Team, created to explore ways the municipality can help support the critical shortage of childcare for local families.

The Task Team includes representatives from The HUB Child and Family Centre, the PEC Needs Childcare Collective, the County of Prince Edward, municipal Councillors, the Baxter Centre, the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board (HPEDSB), and Prince Edward–Lennox and Addington Social Services (PELASS).

The group will work together to identify opportunities and make recommendations for how the municipality can support the creation of new child care spaces in the short-, medium- and long-term.

Get involved!

  • Parents and caregivers can share their experience accessing childcare as well as ideas for how the County can support the childcare sector using the Sharing Board below.
  • Employers are invited to take a brief survey to share how childcare challenges are impacting local businesses and organizations. This survey is now closed, thank you to everyone who responded!

We're seeking input from employers to better understand how the local childcare shortage is affecting your employees, and in turn, your operations. Your responses will help assess the economic impact of limited childcare in PEC and guide how the municipality can support or encourage the creation of more childcare spaces locally.
