First Draft Zoning By-law now available; Public open house June 26 in Wellington

The public is kindly requested to submit comments on the first draft of the Zoning By-law by Friday July 19. Submissions can be sent to Michael Michaud, MCIP, RPP, Manager of Planning, County of Prince Edward, at mmichaud@pecounty.on.ca.
What are the some of the proposed changes in the new Zoning By-law that may be of interest to me?
- Overall refresh and restructure of the document, including inclusion of diagrams and illustrations, as well as a Zoning By-law User Guide that describes how to read and understand the Zoning By-law
- Added contemporary permitted uses such as additional dwelling units, community gardens, and shipping containers
- New provisions for agriculture-related and on-farm diversified uses
- Proposed restructuring of the Rural Zones and addition of new Agricultural Zone to recognize agricultural lands in the County per direction from the Official Plan
A public open house will be held on Wednesday June 26 at the Highline Hall, Wellington and District Community Centre (111 Belleville Street) from 6 pm to 8 pm. The public open house will be an opportunity for members of the community to provide input on the first draft Zoning By-law.
The format of the public open house will be as follows:
- A brief presentation, beginning at 6:30 pm, by the County’s project consultant, WSP, including an overview of the first draft of the Zoning By-law and proposed key changes to the document
- An open question and answer session with the project team
