Update Sept 25th 2020:

All existing LED and High Pressure Sodium lights only will be replaced in Prince Edward County. This includes a total of 1384 units in Ameliasburgh, Consecon, Carrying Place, Hillier, Wellington, West lake, East Lake, Cherry Valley, Milford, Picton, Demorestville, Reddersville and Bloomfield.

Lights that are not being replaced are Parking Lot lights, Privately owned lights, Decorative lights, Park lights, at this time.

The install status of each streetlight is available for viewing on this Map HERE where you will be able to view in "Real Time" install status updates.


Background:

In an effort to replace our aging and obsolete lighting fixtures, The County of Prince Edward is implementing a Street Light conversion strategy to replace our entire inventory of our High Pressure Sodium (HPS) streetlights with energy efficient LED. This will have an annual savings of $217,340. The LED streetlights “Greenhouse Gas Reduction” Estimates to:

  • Current Annual Energy Consumption (kWh) 1,112,832
  • Projected LED Annual Energy (kWh) 297,363
  • Annual Saving (kWh) 815,469
  • Estimated Annual Green House Gas Reduction (metric tonnes) 25
  • GreenHouse Gas Reduction over Luminarie Life of 100,00 hours (metric tonnes) 581

The LED streetlight benefits for Prince Edward County will be:

  • Lower Cost
  • Longer Life
  • Less Energy Use
  • Reduced Waste
  • Better Safety
  • Brighter & More Natural Light


Prince Edward County will have new LED Cree Cobra Head 3000K light fixtures in the following areas.


The Municipality will be stock piling the existing LED lights that we currently have to use for future projects. (Also a cost savings)
