Update: Council passed on May 25, 2021 a by-law for the imposition of an area-specific development charge for the Wellington Urban Serviced Area. View the by-law.

Any person or organization may appeal to the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal under section 14 of the Development Charges Act, in respect of the development charges by-law, by filing with the Clerk of the County of Prince Edward on or before the 5th day of July, 2021 a notice of appeal setting out the objection to the by-law and the reasons supporting the objection. Developers have expressed a strong interest in expanding residential housing in the Wellington Urban Centre. To facilitate residential development in Wellington, the County of Prince Edward must expand water and wastewater services. To recover the growth-related costs of expanding these services, the municipality seeks to introduce an area-specific development charges (DC) background study and by-law.
