In 2025, Council directed staff to develop a Youth Engagement Strategy to strengthen how young people interact with local government and share their ideas, experiences, and challenges. This work is underway in collaboration with key partners, including Prince Edward Learning Centre, Greater Than Youth Collective, the Students Commission of Canada and The ROC.
Together, we’re exploring opportunities to better understand youth needs, amplify youth voices, and increase feelings of belonging within the community.
Engagement opportunities for this project have been completed. A number of early action items have been implemented to date, including:
- Launching @PECYouth on Instagram to share events, opportunities, and activities for young people in the County
- Free transit for high school students to improve access to programs, services, employment, and community spaces
- 2nd Annual Mental Health Resource Fair at Prince Edward Collegiate Institute (PECI) on Sept 24, 2026
