The County of Prince Edward, with support from its consultants WSP Canada Inc., is developing a Cultural Heritage Master Plan (CHMP). This plan will help manage and protect Prince Edward County&#39;s built heritage resources and cultural heritage landscapes. The CHMP will align with the municipality&#39;s <a href="https://www.thecounty.ca/government/council/corporate-strategic-plan/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">strategic plan</a> and heritage planning goals and will build upon the municipality&#39;s <a href="https://www.thecounty.ca/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Heritage-Conservation-Strategy-Staff-Report.pdf" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Heritage Conservation Strategy (2011)</a>.Throughout the process, the municipality and consultant team will seek input from the community, knowledge keepers, and all relevant stakeholders as it:<ul><li>Develops the cultural heritage landscape strategy</li><li>Identifies potential cultural heritage landscapes </li><li>Finds opportunities to improve the management of important built heritage resources and cultural heritage landscapes </li></ul>Check out the FAQ section at the side of this page to learn more about cultural heritage landscapes and built heritage resources.

2024 Parkland Projects

The County of Prince Edward is reviewing its Comprehensive Zoning By-law. The process will result in a new Comprehensive Zoning By-law to replace <a href="https://www.thecounty.ca/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Comprehensive-Zoning-By-Law-Updated-October-2019.pdf" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Zoning By-law (No. 1816-2006) as amended</a>, which was first adopted by Council in 2006.The Comprehensive Zoning By-law review will be undertaken in three phases.<ul><li>Phase 1: Review and Analysis (Winter 2023) </li><li>Phase 2: Summary Report and Draft Zoning By-law (Spring - Spring 2024)</li><li>Phase 3: Refinement and Finalization (Summer - Fall 2024)</li></ul>There will be opportunities for community engagement throughout the process, including a public open house workshop, a statutory public open house, a statutory public meeting under the Planning Act, and the review of draft documents as they become available.
